"Rupture & Connection" unites artists across generations in a vibrant exploration of place, emigration, and legacy, presenting a tapestry of shared experiences and histories. This exhibition, curated by Christopher Y. Lew, is a thought-provoking journey through the interconnectedness of our world.
The exhibition, primarily featuring works from the Green Family Collection, draws inspiration from Édouard Glissant, the Martinique-born philosopher, poet, and writer. Glissant's work articulates a system of relations that recognizes the individual's opacity and identity's multiplicity. He described an "aesthetics of rupture and connection" that transcends geopolitical boundaries and lineage, positing that identity is relational and perpetually evolving.
